The Six of Cups mural was created in the Spring of '23 for Kathryn and Lewis Shepherd. The mural sits in conversation with the early modernist visions of the Italian Futurists, Russian Constructivists, and German Expressionists while evoking the new world origins that inspired the creation of piece in its original Washington, D.C. home.

Director of Hallucinations is a materialization of the Pulp and Circumstance series. This painting began in 2018 as a digital collage from pulp illustration sources. The painting was exhibited in Los Angeles at an undisclosable location as part of a Phaneros Gallery Pop-Up Exhibit associated with the Dead & Co. Concert that took place over Halloween weekend, 2021.

Drawing with black and white pens on a 'toned ground' (aka; colored paper for those - like myself - who didn't go to art school) is one of my favorite drawing techniques. I like the way that I can develop form through crosshatching in both white and black while allowing the background color to be the midtone. So, what is the form being developed here?

'Chrome Fairy' was made while traveling in Chile to witness the eclipse at Villarrica in December of 2020. I scaled the Volcan Villarrica (2847 m) a few days after the eclipse (due to stormy conditions on the mountain it was not possible to ascend on the day of the eclipse). I also spent some time in the nearby town where I made this drawing. Typically, my outward circumstances are largely irrelevant to the subject matter of my art, and this drawing is no exception. This is because, primarily, I draw from my mind which exists outside of any specific time or place.

Shanghai Salad is intimately linked with my 2019 visit to Shanghai where I got a sort of food poisoning by eating incredibly spicy hot pot. My assistant, Shaw, a young woman from Wuhan, was hellbent to dine in this firebreathing hot pot joint where everything was lacquered and upholstered in shades of red. Steaming pots of broth were brought to the table along with a variety of meat, seafood, and vegetables and - most conspicuously - large dark red bricks of red pepper boullion which Shaw eagerly added to the soup which then turned an infernal red color in the center of the table where we could add ingredients to taste.
