Metal Sketches
2015
These pieces are printed on metallic paper with silver highlight effects that can only be appreciated when seen directly. This series was an experiment in combining large format printing with painting, as well as an initial foray into combining human with mechanical and architectural forms. These drawing began as a study of perspective, though they fail to actually capture the specified subjects in 3D space. Instead the sketches intimate perspective, creating a paradoxical space where lines cancel out depth.
Metal Sketches are a print series that showcase studies in perspective, printmaking on metalic papers, pen and ink, and paint. The original black and white ink drawings were scanned, printed, tinted, rescanned, and finally made into larger prints on silver coated paper. All original drawings now rest with my old friend, Richard Glen Boire.
